Rob and his family grew up in Southport. They love the Gold Coast. He has four sons, and two grandchildren. They love spending time at the beach, in the surf, at the footy and jet-skiing around the Broadwater.

Rob’s first job was packing bread roles after school at Gold Coast Bakeries.

He was a foundation student at Keebra Park State High School. He spent the first ten years of his working life at Woolies. Today he is an accomplished executive with local and international experiences in small business and the corporate world. Rob has been a broadcaster, retail manager, wholesale manufacturer, barista, and pizza maker.

Prior to entering politics he was General Manager of Sea FM Limited, operating local radio stations 90.9 Sea FM & 92.5 Gold FM. Outside of work Rob has an extensive range of not-for-profit board experience. He was a founding director and investor in the Gold Coast NRL Titans, founding Chairman of the Gold Coast Community Fund and has been serving as a director of Bravehearts the charity committed to protecting our kids from Child Sexual Abuse since 2006. He continues to be an ambassador and fundraiser for the Vinnies CEO Sleepout, which raises money to help provide accommodation and services to the homeless. He is also a strong advocate and champion of Southport based Domestic Violence support services.

Rob has worked hard to deliver so many important local and community projects including the redevelopment of the Broadwater Parklands, Gold Coast Aquatic Centre, and the revitalisation of the Southport CBD. Since his election in 2012 he has worked hard to deliver vital road upgrades to Smith St, Olsen Ave, Ferry Rd, High St, Ross St, and Bundall Rd along with significant improvements to public transport including the Gold Coast Light Rail and improved car-parking in Southport and at the Parkwood Light Rail station.

As the State Member for Southport his enduring goals include the establishment of the Common Ground model of supportive accommodation on the Gold Coast and other major population centres around Australia, more public and affordable housing, revitalisation of CBD Southport, extension of the light and heavy rail networks from Helensvale to Gold Coast Airport, better health services, a fairer go for young people, more jobs, and standing up in the war on drugs. Rob will continue to fight for a safer and more inclusive community, better protection of frontline emergency service workers, less domestic and family violence and work to ensure the Gold Coast is among the most welcoming and safest cities in the world.
