About Rob
Rob is the Member for Southport and Assistant Minister for Planning Reform. He currently lives on the Gold Coast with his wife Melinda and their four sons, not far from where he grew up in Southport.

Rob has worked in government, retail, broadcasting, media, wholesaling, entertainment, sport and development.

Elected to Gold Coast City Council in 2004, he chaired the Finance & Internal Services Committee overseeing the city’s finances, human resources, capital works, infrastructure planning & development.

As part of the Newman Government he works closely with the Deputy Premier on State Development, Infrastructure and Planning.

Rob is the Queensland Government’s “Go To Guy” for the development industry and has worked closely with Councils and Industry Groups in the creation of SARA, The State’s Single Assessment Referral Agency, Infrastructure Charges Reform and the new Planning Act, all with a view to making Queensland the best place in Australia to do business.

Rob has a passion for community service and prior to his election to Parliament, Rob was a Director and National President of Bravehearts, the founding Chairman of the Gold Coast Community Fund and a foundation Director of the Gold Coast NRL Titans.

Between his commitments to Southport and his portfolio responsibilities he spends any spare time with his family, surfing and enjoying the enviable Gold Coast lifestyle.
